50 g / 78 m
Size:
approx. 45 cm wide and approx. 37 cm high (without handle)
Usage:
approx. 400 g Cotton Fun uni in col. 01 (white) and approx. 350 g in col. 11 (dark blue)
approx. 50 g King Cotton in col. 03 (sand) for the upper edge of the bag
Additionally, for the bag handle, you will need approx. 2 m cording in col. sand Ø ca. 1,5 cm. You can also twist a cord using King Cotton. If so, you will need to add an additional 50 g to the usage amount.
Needles:
Crochet hook 4,5 - 5,0mm or size needed to achieve given tension.
Pattern:
Tr worked in rows (RS and WS):
Each row of tr begins with 2 tch to replace the 1st tr and ends with 1 tr worked into the 2nd of the replacement ch at the beginning of the prev row.
Tr worked in rnds:
Each rnd of tr begins with 2 tch to replace the 1st tr and ends with 1 sl st worked into the 2nd of the replacement ch at the beg of the rnd.
Post treble crochet in rnds (amount of sts multiple of 2) and stripe sequence:
Each rnd of post treble crochet (ptc) sts begins with 2 ch and 1 ptc either from the front or the back around the replacement ch and the 1st ptc of the prev rnd together (in the first rnd only the replacement ch of the prev rnd) and ends with 1 sl st into the 1st ptc of the beg of the rnd. This creates an almost invisible change of rows.
Rnds 1 - 9: (white) Alt 1 fptc and 1 bptc around the st of the prev rnd directly below the new st.
Rnds 10 - 18: (dark blue) Alt 1 bptc and 1 fptc around the st of the prev rnd directly below the new st.
Rep rnds 1 - 18 cont throughout.
Double crochet in rnds:
Every rnd of dc begins with 1 ch as replacement for the 1st dc and ends with 1 sl st into the replacement ch at the beg of the round.
Colour change:
When changing colours, pull the last loop through the last st using the new colour.
Colour Sequence:
Starting at the bottom of the bag, work the first rnd of dc using dark blue, then work 2 x [9 rnds ptc in white and 9 rnds ptc in dark blue] and end with 7 rnds of ptc in white.
Upper bag edge: King Cotton in col. 03 (sand)
Tension: (worked with yarn held double)
15 sts and 12,5 rnds to 10 cm meas over post treble crochet using needle size 4,5mm or size needed to achieve tension given.
Instructions:
The bag is crocheted tightly using yarn held double throughout. Start at the bottom of the bag.
Using dark blue ch 52 plus 2 tch for turn. Then, for the bottom of the bag, work 10 rows of dc working the 1st dc into the 4th ch from the needle in the 1st row.
Then, for the sides of the bag, work 1 rnd of dc in dark blue around the edges of the bottom piece; working 20 dc into each of the smaller sides ( = 144 sts total). Now work ptc in rnds in the given colour sequence until sides are 36 cm high (43 rnds from beg of ptc pattern).
Now work 1 rnd of dc along the top edge of the bag with King Cotton in col. sand. Dc one st into every other st of the prev rnd and for the opening for the cord skip the 40th- 42nd st as well as the 66th- 68th, 112th - 114th and 138th - 140th sts and replace with 2 ch. Work the dc a bit looser to prevent the upper edge from gathering too much. Then work 1 rnd of rev dc working only 1 rev dc into each dc and ch of the prev rnd. Pull the cording through the openings and knot. As an alternative, you can also twist your own cording using King Cotton. Finished length of each cord is 1 metre.
