Instructions:
House Shoes (make two):
Using larger needles and Filzwolle Uni cast on 32 sts (or amount given in chart for another size).Work 30 rows in stockinette st. Then change to the larger dpns (if using straight needles) dividing the sts evenly amongst the 4 needles (8 sts each needle) and close rnd being careful not to twist the sts.
Rnd 1: in the middle front (rnd change) cast on additional 2 sts = 34 sts (1st needle and 4th needle will then have 9 sts each).
Cont straight in rnds for 23 rnds more.
Rnd. 25 (or rnd given in chart) work the toe: on each of the 4 needles work to last 2 sts then k2tog.
Cont. these dec. in every rnd until 2 or 3 sts remain on each needle. Break yarn and thread through sts. Gently pull taught and weave in ends.
Making up:
Fold cast on edge in half (back heel) and close seam as flat as possible using Filzwolle Uni.
Felting:
Wash the house shoes (without other items) in the washing machine at 40°C (warm water) using the wash cycle for cotton or coloured clothing (approx. 2 hours), spin cycle approx. 800-1000rpm, do not use a short cycle or water saving program. Add a small amount of detergent without optical brighteners or softeners. Do not add additional softeners to the load. To assist the felting process add 3 tennis balls to the load. After the felting process remove immediately from the machine and shape the shoes into form (it helps to put the wet shoes on your feet). Allow to dry out of direct sunlight.
Cuff in Hot Socks Skandinavia:
Using Hot Socks Skandinavia and smaller dpns cast on 60 sts and divide evenly amongst the 4 needles (15 sts each needle) and close the round being careful not to twist the stitches.
Work 33 rnds (14cm) in rib patt then cast off all sts even.
Using sewing thread in a matching colour sew cast on edge of finished cuff onto opening of each house shoe. Fold back as in picture.
Tip: For other sizes cast on more or less sts as needed.
