Crochet pattern: (Deviating instructions for size 38/40 are given in brackets)
The dress is crocheted in rounds, in one piece from top to bottom, following the colour pattern as specified. Cast on 159 (175) ch and close the round with 1 sl st. Crochet the 1st – 3rd rd in pattern 3, the 4th – 18th (20th) rd in pattern 1, decrease 3 st each (evenly spread out) in the 8th (10th) rd (w o tog 2 st) = 156 (172) st. Repeat this decrease 4 times i.e. 2nd rd = 144 (160) st. Crochet the 19th (21st) – 21st (23rd) rd in pattern 3, only crochet dc in 22nd (24th) rd. After the 23rd (25th) rd (= total length of 16.5 (18.5) cm), continue with pattern 2. In the 30th (32nd) rd (= total length of 25.5 (27.5) cm), increase by 10 st (evenly spread out) = 154 (170) st. Repeat this increase 3 times i.e. 4th rd = 184 (200) st. After the 69th (71st) rd (= total length of 70.5 (72.5) cm), crochet around the bottom edge of the dress with 1 rd of reverse single crochets (sc crocheted from le to ri) in col. 17.
Finishing:
For the straps, cast on 70 (74) ch and 1 tch in col. 17, crochet 1 r of sc, 1 r of dc and another r of sc. Every r of sc starts with 1 tch as a replacement for the 1st sc, every r of dc starts with 3 tch as a replacement for the 1st dc. Crochet a second strap in the same way. Sew on the straps to the front and the back of the top of the dress, at approx. 8 (9) cm from the side edge. Crochet around the neckline and the strap edges with 1 r of reverse single crochets. Carefully sew up all threads.
