Tip for multicoloured yarn:
To achieve an harmonious striped effect, when starting a new piece or ball of yarn, pay attention to start your knitting at the same point of the striped colour repeat. Begin all balls for your project either from the outside or the inside.
Selvedge stitches: at beg of row: sl 1 k-wise; at end of row: k 1.
Tension: 21 sts x 29 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm over stocking stitch

Rows 1-3 (beg with WS row) k all sts.
Next row: cont work in horizontal stripe patt.
Work until piece meas. 20 (22 - 24) cm (= row 73 (79 - 87)) and place a marker on each side for the sleeve placement.
When work meas. 32 (36 - 40) cm (= row 117 (131 - 145)) for the back neck opening:
Next row (RS) selvedge st, work 20 (24 - 28)sts in horizontal rib patt and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder.
Work on this set of 21 (25 - 29) sts only for right side of neck.

Making up:
Join one shoulder seam. For the neckband along the neck edge with right side facing, pick up and knit 84 (92- 100) sts and work 5 rows in garter st. patt. (1st row is a WS row) then bind off all sts loosely. Join the second shoulder seam. Sew in sleeves. Join arm and side seams.
