Knitting pattern:
Arm warmers:
Cast on 18 st and distribute it on the double-pointed needles (5 stitches on 1st and 4th needle, 4 stitches on 2nd and 3rd needle).
Continue knitting in rounds as follows: k 1 r, p 4 rd, k 12 rd.
For the thumb hole knit 4 r in stocking stitch, open (1st r = WSR p stitches), by decreasing 1 st on both sides in the 2nd r (right edge: slip off 2nd st after the est, k 3rd st, and pull the slipped-off st over; left edge: k tog last-but-one and last-but-two st before the est) = 16 st.
Continue knitting in rounds as follows: k 3 rd, p 3 rd. After that, bind off stitches loosely, in knit stitch.
Knit the second arm warmer accordingly.
Hat:
The hat is knitted straight, in right- and wrong-side rows.
Cast on 32 st plus 2 est, and knit 7 r in cuff pattern. Now knit 4 r in garter stitch, 4 r in stocking stitch, and another 4 r in garter stitch. Finish off the hat in stocking stitch as follows: In the following r mark every 5th st for decreasing. K tog each marked stitch and the following stitch = 29 st.
Repeat this decrease twice in every 2nd r = 19 st.
Cut off the working yarn and pull it through the stitches. Close the hat with as flat a seam as possible, and then stitch on a pompon made from the remaining yarn.
